Exiting S Mode in Windows 11 Windows 11 in S mode is designed with a focus on security and performance, exclusively running apps from the Microsoft Store. If you wish to install an application not available in the Microsoft Store, you will need to switch out of S mode.

1. On your Windows 11 PC operating in S mode, open the Settings menu, navigate to the System section, and select Activation.
